The inspiration to write this song was from getting stuck inside an acid trip when I was tripping with my girlfriend one night. My lady and I were listening to music and making out on the bed. She took off my shirt and jeans, and she was in nothing but her bra and panties. Things were starting to get highly X-Rated.
As we were making out, everything around me was seemingly going in a fast-forward motion while my movements were languid. To me, all kinds of things were going on around me. Most of which I could not remember or comprehend because I was so high. All of a sudden, I am in some body of water. I can hear a very faint, familiar voice calling out to me. It sounded very concerned, scared, and determined.
I began swimming as fast as possible to get out of the water and find whoever was calling out to me... The voice was like a sweet melodic symphony ringing in my ears. The closer I got to her voice, the more bliss I felt. Suddenly, a hand reached into the water, trying to grab me! I take her hand immediately, and she pulls me out!
I awaken back in my bedroom with her looking at me with a look of sick concern and terror. I was breathing heavily, with my body slightly convulsing and shivering. My body was in a state of shock. I look around the room. She is somewhat on top of me and holding my thumbs (like she was holding my hands, just instead, it was my thumbs.) I look around at my surroundings, and when I look back at her again, I see a flock of butterflies flying upwards, covering her face. As they disappeared into thin air, I saw butterfly wings morph out of her looking like she was wearing a butterfly mask.
My lady informed me that I started to have seizure-like shakes while we were making out. I was whispering to myself, "It's okay, it's okay. It's just a drug. You're just high. This will pass. You are only tripping. You ate some acid."
She said I had repeated that to myself consistently for about 10 mins (Her words, not mine.)
The symbolism behind this crazy trip was to show me that I got a ride-or-die for life. It was to show me how great of a woman I have by my side. So I wrote her this Lullaby.
